I am honored to serve as your principal! I have experienced firsthand the outstanding staff of professional educators who are all dedicated to education and the success of each child! I also know that Chantilly has a dedicated, strong community of supports who are committed to the success of the school. I have worked closely with PTO and observed how fortunate we are to have volunteers who support the needs of teachers, students and the school. I have been amazed by the teaching staff. They are committed to Montessori and providing the best environment for student academic success.
My professional experiences prior to becoming Principal of Chantilly includes twenty years of experience in CMS as a teacher, assistant principal, principal and working two years in our district central office. Family is my number one priority. I have been married for seventeen years. I am the mother of two wonderful boys. I attended college at North Carolina Central University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education. I have worked for numerous schools in the district as a teacher. During this time I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Curriculum Specialist. I have served as an Assistant Principal at J.H. Gunn Elementary and a Strategically Staff Principal at Sedgefield Elementary School. The last two years of my career, I was asked to join Superintendent, Ann Clark for a special assignment. During this assignment, one of my greatest accomplishments was the founder and creator of the North Star Reading Initiative.
As your principal, I will strive to continue the strong traditions of Montessori and continue to help staff with professional development opportunities to learn to help shape the WHOLE CHILD. I want every student to have an engaging, challenging learning environment supportive of critical thinking, individual discoveries, and a caring member of our world. As educators, we will continue to refine our instructional practices through reflection time and personalize the education for each of our students.
I look forward to getting to know all of our Chantilly families and partnering with you in the upcoming year!
I would like to highlight a few reminders below:
Please remember to return the necessary forms to school. The bell will ring promptly at 8:45 am. It is important that all students arrive to school on time. Also, please remember that the first few weeks of school can take some extra time for drop off and dismissal so it is imperative that we all work together to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and families by practicing patience and our school and safety procedures.
Below are just a few, simple hints that will help to ensure that your child’s transportation goes smoothly as we begin back to school:
-For younger students (Pre-K-2nd grade)-Please make sure that you have some sort of visible tag on the outside of their book bag with their name, bus number, and bus stop.
-If your child has medical concerns or food allergies, please notify the teacher, school nurse and cafeteria manager immediately.
-Make sure that your child’s teacher has easy access to reach you: phone numbers, email address, etc. and keep these numbers updated at all times.
-If your child is a Pre-K bus rider, they MUST have a responsible adult to meet them at the bus stop. If an adult is not there to meet them, the bus driver will return your child to the school.
-Make sure that your child knows how they are going home, what bus number they ride, and where their bus stop is located.
-If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to call the main office
